Mr. Kosit Panpiemras, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry, Minister of Finance and Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives for Thailand, was appointed Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Bangkok Bank in March 2008.

He first joined Bangkok Bank as the Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors in January 1999 and an Executive Director in 1992. His previous employment included working as Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) and as economist at the World Bank, Washington D.C.

Kosit graduated in Public Finance from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Chulalongkorn University in 1963 and obtained a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland in the United States in 1965. He obtained a further degree in 1988 from National Defense College, Thailand.

Mr. Kosit is a well-known public figure who has received public recognition for his work with regard to national and regional economic development. During his time at the Bank he has founded the Modern Agriculture Project to support the use of technology in agriculture and has set up numerous schemes and training programs to support the development of Small and Medium sized Enterprises.
