Bank Notes
  • Visit a Bangkok Bank branch to buy foreign bank notes in the currencies displayed on the bank’s exchange rate board.

Bank Draft
  • A bank draft is a payment order which instructs a bank in another country to pay someone an indicated amount of money.
  • Bangkok Bank sells foreign drafts in the currencies displayed on the bank’s exchange rate board.
  • If you are a student you can buy drafts in your own name which you can use as a deposit when opening an account with a foreign bank. You can also use it to pay for tuition fees by indicating the school or university as a payee.

200Bt + 3Bt duty stamp per a draft
Exceptions:
SGD: 250Bt + 3Bt duty stamp
CHF: 500Bt + 3Bt duty stamp
CAD, EUR and GBP: 350Bt + 3Bt duty stamp

Traveler’s Cheque
  • Traveler’s cheques can be used almost like cash – they can be used to pay for products and services or converted to cash.
  • If your cheques are lost or stolen, you can contact the traveler’s cheque agency overseas to cancel them and issue new ones. 
  • American Express traveler’s cheques are available at Bangkok Bank and can be bought in six currencies - USD, EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD and AUD.
  • To cash a cheque, you must always sign the cheque in the presence of the payee and show your passport or other form of identification. The signature must look the same as the signature on the cheque and passport.

International Funds Transfer via SWIFT
  • Bangkok Bank uses SWIFT to facilitate international funds transfer instructions. This service ensures funds are delivered to your beneficiary quickly and safely.
  • You will need the following information to transfer funds successfully:
        -  The account name and number, and
           the student’s address overseas
        -  The name and address of the bank
           the student has an account with 
        -  The SWIFT address of the bank the
           student has an account with (if any) 
        -  For transfers of Euro (EUR), Swiss
           Francs (CHF), Danish Kroner (DKK),
           Swedish Kroner (SEK) or Norwegian
           Kroner (NOK) to a recipient with a
           European bank account, you should
           also ask for their International Bank
           Account Number (IBAN).
  • To make a funds transfer for educational purposes, you must also submit a document from the school, university overseas or office of The Civil Service Commission as evidence that the student is enrolled overseas.

400Bt per a transaction

International Funds Transfer Service via Bualuang iBanking
  • Funds can be transferred via Bualuang iBanking, Bangkok Bank’s internet banking service, for the purpose of supporting educational expenses. You will need to prepare the following information:
        1. Application form
        2. Identification card
        3. A document from the school, 
           university overseas or office of The
           Civil Service Commission as
           evidence of the student’s enrollment
           overseas.
  • Contact any Bangkok Bank branch nationwide to get started

300Bt per a transaction

Western Union Money Transfer Service
  • The Western Union Money Transfer Service enables funds transfers anywhere in the world without needing a bank account
  • The service is available at all Bangkok Bank branches and exchange booths displaying the sign nationwide.

The Western Union Money Transfer Service fee is calculated from the actual amount of funds transferred. Please contact Western Union for more details on their fee structure.

ATM and Debit Cards
  • Bangkok Bank ATM and debit cards, including the Bualuang Premier card and Be1st debit card, can be used to withdraw cash from overseas ATMs displaying the PLUS logo.
  • The bank automatically deducts money from the account in Thailand by calculating the exchange rate set by Visa International.
  • Entrance fee – 100Bt
  • Annual fee – 200Bt
  • Withdrawal fee of 100Bt per transaction will be deducted from accounts in Thailand
Credit Card
  • You can use Bangkok Bank credit cards including Visa, MasterCard and Bangkok Bank American Express to purchase products and services. You can also obtain a Cash Advance from foreign bank ATMs worldwide.
  • Applicants must be 20 years old or over to apply for a primary credit card and 15 years old or over to apply for supplementary credit card. Applicants must have a monthly income of no less than 20,000Bt.
  • If a credit card is used while traveling abroad, the baht value of the bill will appear in your statement. Exchange rates are calculated based on rates set by Visa International, MasterCard or American Express.
  • Entrance fee and annual fees vary according to the type of credit card
  • Cash Advance fee is 3% of the withdraw amount + 7% VAT
  • Interest rate is 18% per year
 
Foreign Banks
Students who intend to study abroad should open an account with a local bank in their destination country. They should choose a bank near their home or school.
