Whilst traditional cards with a magnetic stripe can only store data, the Be1st Smart card uses a highly-secure and innovative EMV microchip containing both data and security software to make your card nearly impossible to copy and keep your money safe.
Smart card, smart choice
Whenever you use an ATM or pay for goods with your Be1st Smart card, the information stored on the EMV chip is confirmed by a special device inside the ATM or point of sale machine. Based on today’s technology, this highly encrypted information is almost impossible to copy.
The Be1st Smart card is more than just an ATM card that can be used in Thailand and across the world – it gives you the freedom and peace of mind to shop at stores without having to carry cash and unlike a credit card, funds are deducted directly from your account. This means there are no monthly bills, no interest charges and no credit bureau worries!
Smart features
- Withdraw cash safely: Visit any Bangkok Bank ATM displaying the
sign. VISA EMV-enabled ATMs are also available in some countries abroad, so your money can be kept safe when you travel
- Daily withdrawal limit: Maximum daily withdrawal of up to 500,000Bt or you can select your own limit of either 50,000Bt, 100,000Bt, 150,000Bt, 200,000Bt or 500,000Bt – simply call Bualuang Phone 1333
- Super shopping: Choose your maximum daily purchasing limit - you can choose to set your daily spending at either 20,000Bt, 50,000Bt, 100,000Bt or 150,000Bt. Shop at any merchant displaying the
logo – over 100,000 in Thailand, and millions more in 170 countries around the world.
- Other banking services: Your Be1st Smart card can be used to check your account balance, transfer funds, buy or sell mutual funds or pay bills at Bangkok Bank ATMs displaying the sign, or via Bualuang Phone 1333. (charges may apply).
- Easy shopping history: You can check your Be 1st Smart card transaction history free via internet banking or with monthly statements (charges apply). You can sign up for the service at any branch.
How much does the Be1st Smart card cost?
Despite the additional security technology and ATM upgrade, fees for the Be1st Smart card are the same as the regular Be1st debit card:
- Joining fee: Bt 100
- Annual fee: Bt 200 until 1 January 2012 (usually 300)
There will be no joining fee if you wish to change your existing card and be one of the first to have a Be1st Smart card.
Do I need to change my card?
Whilst the Be1st Smart card offers a greater level of security than the existing suite of Be1st debit cards, you will not be required to change your card. You may elect to change your card to a Be1st Smart card to be one of the first to take advantage of the EMV chip technology –visit your local branch!
Can I hold both a Be1st Smart card and another Be1st debit card?
