How to keep your card safe
Here are some personal card safety rules for you to follow.

  • Sign the signature panel of your card as soon as you receive it.
  • Protect your cards as if they were cash. Never leave them unattended.
  • Never write down your PIN number. Choose one which you can memorize easily.
  • Make sure that you get your card back after every use.
  • If possible, do not let your card out of your sight when it is being processed for authorization.
  • Always check sales vouchers including the purchase amount, before you sign them. Keep copies of sales vouchers and ATM receipts.
  • Never give your card number over the phone, unless you are dealing with a credible company, or you have initiated the call yourself.
  • Always check your billing statement, especially after a trip. Check the amounts of your purchases against your sales vouchers and receipts - specifically look for transactions which are not yours.
  • Make a list of your credit card numbers and telephone numbers and keep it in a safe place in case you need to report lost or stolen cards.
  • If you feel pressured by a telemarketing salesperson, be suspicious. Never give out your account number under these circumstances.
  • Never give out any personal information when using your credit card, other than your ID document if requested.
  • Never disclose your PIN to anyone. You are the only person who should  know it.
  • When you set your PIN, always avoid numbers which are available to other people to find out, such as your telephone number, date of birth, or car license plate number. Bank of Thailand recommends you change your PIN at least once every three months.
  • When your card is stuck in an ATM, be suspicious of anyone who offers their help, even if they appear to be a bank security officer. Criminals can obtain your PIN by several means (shoulder surfing or straight forward questioning), then retrieve your jammed card from the ATM and use it to withdraw funds.
  • When traveling you should take with you only one ATM card and memorize the PIN.
  • When making a transaction, please use a BBL ATM machine, or others under the ATM Pool system, located in a safe place.
  • Look out for, card-sized "skimmers" placed in the ATM card slot or miniature video cameras on or near the ATM machine. If you notice anything suspicious, please contact the Phone Banking Center at 0-2645-5555 or 1333.
  • Change your PIN immediately if you suspect there has been any unauthorized withdrawal from your account, and contact your nearest BBL branch.
If your credit, debit or ATM card(s) is lost or stolen then you need to contact the bank as soon as you can. Our operators are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and can stop the unauthorized use of your card(s).
