We provide insight and knowledge so you can become NUMBER ONE in the AEC, supported by Bangkok Bank’s regional expertise.

The AEC Business Leader Program delivers insights and learning experiences to Thai business owners and entrepreneurs who would like to start a business in ASEAN or expand to the region. After completing this program, they will have gained essential knowledge, learned useful business practices, and acquired practical experience in key areas such as ASEAN culture, the tools needed to develop business skills and build strong entrepreneurial networks, and ultimately learned how to be successful in ASEAN.

Course Modules

 AEC Business Leader Batch 3 focuses on investing in ASEAN. The course includes 5 modules as follows:

  • Module1: Regional Insights
    In-depth learning about the challenges and opportunities related to doing business in ASEAN. Discussion topics are tied to actual business experience and include key factors in solving business problems in ASEAN.

  • Module 2: Business Skills and Trends
    Learn business skills that include leadership, starting innovative businesses, and establishing brands in the ASEAN market. Also, the participants will learn tricks to create efficient business plans by the guru.

  • Module 3: Business Support and Facilitation
    Advice from branch managers in ASEAN and the Bank executives to present bank products and give their advice on how to manage financial and operational risks.

  • Module 4: High-Level Business Networking
    Building exclusive networks during the business trip to Myanmar and Vietnam, as well as field work in special economic zone and meeting Thai companies who have been successful there, we offer special seminars and private meetings with executives from major companies and government representatives.

  • Module 5: Group Exercise
    An opportunity to participate in the ‘Business Plan Contest’ by building effective business plans in teams. This enhances analytical and teamwork skills to boost expertise for doing business. For this contest, we are honored to have executives from Bangkok Bank and CEOs from top companies in Myanmar and Vietnam.

Learning and Development Activities
  • Classroom
    Participate in lectures and discussions on various topics led by prominent guest speakers from the government, state enterprises and the private sector, including Bangkok Bank.

  • Experiences Sharing
    Participants share their experiences and learn from others in workshops involving successful entrepreneurs and Bangkok Bank, helping them identify challenges and opportunities, and providing them with valuable suggestions.

  • Group Exercise and Activities
    Participants work on group exercises and activities, integrating knowledge from the classroom into business practice using business case-studies. Participants also learn how to present their business plans through public speaking.

Program Sessions and Training Fee

Every Saturday from 3 February - 28 April 2018 (approximately 115 hours including extracurricular activities and business trip)

Place: The Campus, Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Bangkok

The training fee is 100,000Bt per person* for regular registration.

*Remark: The training fee per person does not include the cost of the overseas business trip (travel and accommodation).

Qualifications

  • Thai Entrepreneur aged over 30 years old
  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • A Business Owner who has operated a business for more than 5 years or a business heir or a senior executive
  • Interested in investing, or expanding markets, in the ASEAN region
  • Able to participate in the whole program

ASEAN Business Trip (Myanmar and Vietnam) 27 - 31 March 2018

Welcome Ceremony 
The second class of the AEC Business Leader Program began in February 2017, focused mainly on doing business in Cambodia, with 48 entrepreneurs and business owners enrolled.

At a Welcome Ceremony and Exclusive Talk on 8 February 2017 at SO Sofitel Bangkok, Bangkok Bank President Mr. Chatsiri Sophonpanich spoke of the importance and influence of the ASEAN market, and how much business opportunities have been increasing in recent years. He highlighted the purpose of the AEC Business Leader Program in helping participants be successful in their business operations in the competitive ASEAN market.

The event was honored with the presence of Gen. Vichit Yathip, President of the Thailand – Cambodia Friendship Association, Ministry of Foreign Affairs who gave a keynote address titled: “Cambodia and Thailand: Growing Together for Economic Prosperity.”

A panel discussion on the topic of “Key Success Factors for Investing in Cambodia” was joined by Mr. Chanit Charnchainarong, Executive Chairman of the Thailand – Cambodia Business Council, and successful businesspeople in Cambodia: Mr. Sathien Setthasit, President of Carabao Group Public Company Limited, and Mr. Taweekit Jatucharoenkun, Executive of TK Garment Company Limited. Ms.Charlotte Donavanik, Producer and Moderator of the TV programs “AEC Mee Tang Ruay” and “AEC Plus”, moderated the panel discussion. In addition, representatives of AEC Business Leader Class 1 held a panel discussion sharing their experiences of the first class.

Orientation
Participants of AEC Business Leader Class 2 joined an orientation workshop at Cape Dara Pattaya on 18 - 19 February 2017. Bangkok Bank Senior Executive Vice President International Banking Group welcomed the participants and explained that the objective of the workshop was to provide an overview of the program and help participants get to know each other. The business plan contest was also discussed so that each group could start planning its business model.

A panel discussion on the topics of “Why ASEAN matters” and “Cambodia: Capturing opportunity to invest” was joined by Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Vice Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister, and Mrs. Jiranun Wongmongkol, Director of the Thai Trade Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, the Executive Director of the Mekong Institute (MI), led a discussion on the topic “CLMV: The Power Production Hub and Consumer Market of the Global Economy,” while Ms. Anyavee Techaphatangkun, Vice President of Leo Global Logistics Co., Ltd. and a member of AEC Business Leader Class 1, discussed “Regional Logistics in the CLMV.”

Welcome Ceremony 
Bangkok Bank has launched the first class of the AEC Business Leader Program which aims to prepare Thai entrepreneurs and business owners to be competitive in the AEC. The grand opening was on 13 June 2016 at Anantara Siam Bangkok.

Bangkok Bank President Mr.Chartsiri Sophonpanich gave a keynote speech about the opportunities in ASEAN and the importance of trade and investment as well as the purpose of initiating the program, namely to help Thai businesses rank among the best in ASEAN.

The event was honored with the presence of Dr.Surin Pitsuwan, Former ASEAN Secretary-General and Chairman of Future Innovative Thailand Institute who gave a keynote address on "ASEAN 2025".

A panel discussion on the topic of "Business opportunities in ASEAN" was joined by Mr. Sanan Augubolkul, Chairman of Srithai Superware and Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways, two successful ASEAN businesses. Ms.Charlotte Donavanik, Vice President for Corporate Communications for Thai Beverage moderated the panel discussion.

Orientation
Participants in the first class of the AEC Business Leader Program joined a workshop at Atta Lakeside Resort Suite, Khao Yai on 18 - 19 June 2016. The purpose of the workshop was to give them the opportunity to get to know each other and gain an overview of the program, as well as the business mission for each group. Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Mr.Chaiyarit Anuchitworawong welcomed the participants to the workshop.

Guest speakers were Dr. Karndee Leopairote, Managing Director of C-ASEAN who shared insights about the ASEAN market and Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Vice Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister, and Mr. Piya Sosothikul, Executive Director of Seacon Group, who talked about "AEC Profile Inspirational Speech: Why ASEAN Matter".
