Special FCD Account enables you to organize your foreign currency earnings from overseas effectively and reduces the risk of exchange rate fluctuations.


You can open an SFCD account as a Savings, Fixed Deposit or Current Account, with a minimum initial deposit of USD1,000, or the equivalent in another currency. You can deposit in 16 major currencies:

You can conveniently ask for an account statement and transfer funds from the SFCD Account into your local baht account via Bualuang iBanking. You can also transfer funds from the SFCD Account overseas or withdraw money from the account as foreign banknotes at the service branches.

What is Special Foreign Currency Deposit - SFCD?
Special Foreign Currency Deposit - SFCD is Bangkok Bank’s foreign currency deposit service that enables you to deposit foreign currency in 14 main currencies with the condition that the incoming funds must come from overseas only.

What are the important conditions of SFCD account?
The incoming funds must come from overseas only such as transferred funds from overseas, and you can deposit funds into the account in any accounts, currencies, banks with unlimited amounts of funds.
Can I deposit my local baht into SFCD account?
No. You cannot deposit your local baht into SFCD account as the incoming sources of fund are required to be from overseas only. 
Can I transfer foreign currency from SFCD account into overseas?
Yes. The withdrawal fees will be varied depending on each currency between 0.25%-1.25% of funds withdrawal (minimum amount at 500 THB) and overseas transferring fees (400 or 1,150 for major currencies except JPY and HKD)
Will there be any problem if I don’t transfer the money into my SFCD account within one month after I fill out the application to open an account?
Your account will be canceled if you fail to transfer money into your account within one month after you complete your SFCD account application complete your SFCD account application.
What is the maximum amount I can deposit into my SFCD account?
There is no limited amount in funds deposits from foreign sources into the SFCD account.  
Which rate does the bank use in withdrawal SFCD into baht?
There is no limited withdrawal amount to get the local baht. If you withdraw more than 2 million baht, you have to inform the purpose to the bank.  
Can I deposit and withdraw money from my SFCD account in a foreign currency?

Yes, however, a fee will apply in depositing and withdrawing with foreign banknotes as follows:  

  • 1% of depositing or withdrawal money for USD (minimum at 500 baht)
  • 2%  of depositing or withdrawal money for another currency (minimum at 500 baht)

Anyway, to deposit foreign banknotes into SFCD account, the user needs to present the evidence of importing banknotes to Thailand, such as, Customs Declaration Form from the Custom Department. Thai nationals are able to deposit foreign banknotes into their account up to USD10,000 or the equivalent in another currency.

What shall I do if I would like to open an FCD account?
For Thai nationals with Thai Citizen ID card or another photo ID card issued by the government, you can contact Bangkok Bank branches nationwide that provide Foreign Currency Deposit Services.
Where can I deposit and withdraw the money?
If you opened your SFCD account at Bangkok Bank’s Headquarters or another branch outside Bangkok that provides Foreign Currency Deposit Services. However, if you opened your SFCD account at Foreign Department in Bangkok Bank in Bangkok and surrounding provinces, you can deposit and withdraw the money from the branch you opened your account only.
Can I manage my SFCD account online?
You can manage your SFCD account via Bualuang iBanking Service, such as, checking account balance and account statement for two previous months, transferring funds from your SFCD account into your local baht account.
However, the users are still unable to transfer funds from SFCD accounts into overseas account via Bualuang iBanking Service.
Can I have an ATM card linked with my SFCD account?
The ATM card service for SFCD account is not available yet. 
Can I withdraw the money from my SFCD account in Bangkok Bank’s overseas branches?
No. There is no such services yet.
