Bangkok Bank Director and Executive Vice President Dr.Thaweelap Rittapirom confirmed that an employee of the Bangkok Bank Krabi branch tested positive for COVID-19 on December 23, 2020 evening. The Bank has strictly followed measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and keep the Bank staff safe in line with standards outlined by the Disease Control Department, the Public Health Ministry:

  1. Temporarily shut the Bangkok Bank Krabi branch for three days from December 24, 2020 for cleaning and disinfection, following the announcement of the Krabi Communicable Disease Committee.
  2. Employees who were in close contact with the infected employee are immediately placed under self-quarantine at home for a designated period according to the Public Health Ministry’s standards.
  3. The Bank has informed customers who received services from the infected employee during December 14-22, 2020 to get tested for COVID-19 at a hospital or self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

According to the Bank’s inquiry on the employee’s symptoms and travel history, the employee indicated she was likely infected with COVID-19 by her husband as he had joined a Big Bike group gathering at Koh Lanta between December 11-12, 2020. He came back to Krabi province and met her on December 13. She continued to work at the branch as usual and sought a diagnosis with her husband after she started experiencing symptoms, receiving confirmation of COVID-19 infection on December 23 at around 11:00 p.m. They are now in the hospital's care without further illness.

The Bank prioritizes the health and safety of its customers, employees, and the public by implementing strict measures compliant with the Public Health Ministry’s hygiene standards to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, especially on providing customer services. Throughout the pandemic, the Bank has implemented strict measures consisting of social distancing, setting partition at branch counters, mandating employees and customers to wear face masks at all times and disallowing physical contact between staff and customers. These preventive measures are part of the Bank’s commitment to be a trusted partner to get through this crisis together with our clients.
