Preserving Thai culture – Bangkok Bank Vice President, Public Relations Department, Mr. Suwit Indrachalerm (right) received a token of appreciation from M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, Chairman of the Board of the Kukrit 80 Foundation under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (left), as Bangkok Bank Musical Art Center supported the Kukrit Institute’s project to promote Thai arts and culture including a seminar and a demonstration of “Nora: Thailand wisdom heritage and world cultural heritage” by Assistant Professor Tammanit Nikomrat, Thai National Artist (Performing Arts: Nora). Nora is a unique style of performance with a long heritage which is deeply rooted in the Thai culture. This reinforces Bangkok Bank’s commitment as a ‘trusted partner’ to preserve and support Thai culture.

Bangkok Bank Musical Art Center was founded in 1979 to preserve and promote Thai traditional musical and dramatic dance. “Sangkeet Saranrom” activities have been organized by the center to enable the general public to experience increasingly rare Thai performing arts, while giving opportunities to artists, the Faculty of Dance, and young generations to showcase their talents. The center has been continually supporting Nora performance and invited Assistant Professor Tammanit Nikomrat and Noratammanit Group to perform in the 105th Sangkeet Saranrom show on November 5, 2016, to impress audiences and bring Nora back to popularity. In 2021, Nora was listed by UNESCO as intangible heritages emphasizing the importance of preserving Nora performance going forward.
