The Bank has scheduled the Royal Kathin ceremony 2024 (the 58th consecutive year) on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Wat Traimit Wittayaram Worawihan in Bangkok. On this occasion, the Bank has prepared commemorative amulets, ‘Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon’ or the ‘Golden Buddha’ consisting of 9.9-inch wide Buddha statues made of brass covered in gold; 5.9-inch wide Buddha statues made of brass covered in gold; and gold coins to be offered as a Buddhist offering; as well as gold-plated coins made of copper to be given as souvenirs to those who make donations to contribute to the Royal Kathin ceremony 2024.
In addition, there are commemorative amulets that have been specially made this year, i.e. the holy water bowl of Phra Sunthareevani, the ‘Blooming Lotus’ amulet cloth, and the Buakaew amulet T-shirt.
The holy water bowl of Phra Sunthareevani is an auspicious object or symbol of the eight auspicious things that should be kept in our home. Made from blackened brass, it is 5 inches in diameter and is shaped like a blooming lotus flower. On the lid is Phra Sunthareevani, a goddess who is responsible for protecting the Dharma and Tripitaka. Inside the holy water bowl is inscribed a lotus yantra, which has sacred powers of loving-kindness, popularity, and success in business, as well as good fortune for the worshippers.
For all these sacred objects, the Bank has received gracious support from Somdet Phra Maharachamongkholmuni (Thongchai Dhammathacho), Councilor of the Central Region, a member of the Supreme Sangha Council, and the Assistant Abbot of Wat Traimit Wittayaram Worawihan who was responsible for designing and giving advice on creating them as souvenirs for the 58th anniversary of the Royal Kathin robe and the Bank’s 80th anniversary.
The Bank would like to invite employees, customers and the public to join in making merit for the Royal Kathin Ceremony 2024 by donating to "Royal Kathin Ceremony, Bangkok Bank", account number 101-7-31539-9, Head Office Silom.
