Leading Regional Bank – Bangkok Bank President and Permata Bank Chairman Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich, together with Permata Bank President Director Ms. Melisa Rusli, Permata Bank Board of Directors and executives welcomed Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanying ministers, and the Thai delegation during their visit to Permata Bank’s Thamrin Branch in Jakarta as part of the Thai Government’s official visit to Indonesia. During the visit, the delegation received a briefing on the roles of Bangkok Bank and Permata Bank in supporting Indonesian companies expanding into Thailand and the wider region, as well as Thai businesses establishing operations and expanding their market presence in Indonesia. The two banks have also combined their strengths to enhance customer services across a comprehensive range of offerings, including Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Trade Finance, Treasury Services, Advisory Services and Cross-border QR Payment Service on the Permata ME app. The app allows customers to make payments in Thailand using Indonesia’s QRIS payment system with great convenience without having to exchange currencies, making cross-border travel and payments more seamless and efficient.
Permata Bank’s Thamrin Branch was formerly Bangkok Bank’s Jakarta Branch, which began operations in 1968. For decades, it has provided financial services and support to Thai businesses and investors seeking to expand trade and investment activities in Indonesia. In 2019, Permata Bank became part of the Bangkok Bank Group, and following the successful acquisition in 2020, Bangkok Bank’s three branches in Indonesia, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan, were merged into Permata Bank’s branch network. Today, Permata Bank is one of the top 10 banks in Indonesia by total assets, serving more than 6.6 million customers through a network of 198 service locations, including Sharia and mobile branches, across 81 major cities nationwide (as of June 30, 2026). This reflects the bank’s long-standing commitment to strengthening economic and business connectivity between Thailand and Indonesia.
