AEC Business Leader Class 2

The second class of the AEC Business Leader Program focused mainly on doing business in Cambodia, with 48 entrepreneurs and business owners enrolled. At a Welcome Ceremony and Exclusive Talk on February 8, 2017 at SO Sofitel Bangkok, Bangkok Bank President Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich spoke of the importance and influence of the ASEAN market, and how much business opportunities have been increasing in recent years. He highlighted the purpose of the AEC Business Leader Program in helping participants be successful in their business operations in the competitive ASEAN market.

The event was honored with the presence of Gen. Vichit Yathip, President of the Thailand – Cambodia Friendship Association, Ministry of Foreign Affairs who gave a keynote address titled: ‘Cambodia and Thailand: Growing Together for Economic Prosperity.’

A panel discussion on the topic of ‘Key Success Factors for Investing in Cambodia’ was joined by Mr. Chanit Charnchainarong, Executive Chairman of the Thailand – Cambodia Business Council, and successful businesspeople in Cambodia: Mr. Sathien Setthasit, President of Carabao Group Public Company Limited, and Mr. Taweekit Jatucharoenkun, Executive of TK Garment Company Limited. In addition, representatives of AEC Business Leader Class 1 held a panel discussion sharing their experiences of the first class.


Participants of AEC Business Leader Class 2 joined an orientation workshop at Cape Dara Pattaya on February 18-19, 2017. Bangkok Bank Senior Executive Vice President Mr. Chaiyarit Anuchitworawong welcomed the participants and explained that the objective of the workshop was to provide an overview of the program and help participants get to know each other. The business plan contest was also discussed so that each group could start planning its business model.

A panel discussion on the topics of ‘Why ASEAN Matters’ and ‘Cambodia: Capturing Opportunities to Invest’ was joined by Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Vice Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister, and Mrs. Jiranun Wongmongkol, Director of the Thai Trade Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, the Executive Director of the Mekong Institute (MI), led a discussion on the topic ‘CLMV: The Power Production Hub and Consumer Market of the Global Economy,’ while Ms. Anyavee Techaphatangkun, Vice President of Leo Global Logistics Company Limited. and a member of AEC Business Leader Class 1, discussed ‘Regional Logistics in the CLMV.’
