Fake SMS, Email and Website


Warning against false SMS, emails, LINE and Facebook asking for your personal information or pop-up messages tricking you into downloading or installing malicious software or applications onto your smartphone, tablet or PC which could steal your personal information.

Please be aware of false messages that may be sent to you via SMS, or email or pop-up messages claiming to be from the Bank in an attempt to extract your personal banking information. These messages try to trick you into giving personal information, downloading or installing malicious software or applications onto your mobile phone, smartphone, tablet or PC. This is dangerous since you follow their instructions, thieves can steal your User ID, Password and One Time Password (OTP) for making a funds transfer from your account via internet banking. The fraudulent funds transfer can be made without your awareness as you do not receive the One Time Password as it has been diverted.

For your own safety in making transactions on devices such as mobile phone, smartphone, tablet or PC, we strongly recommend that you:

  1. Do not click a link that is sent to you via unknown users on SMS, email, website, social media or chat program such as LINE and Facebook Messenger.
  2. Do not reveal your personal information if you are unsure of that request. You are advised to contact the Bank directly.
  3. If you find a message or website that is potentially phishing, you should contact the Bank immediately.
  4. If you have revealed your information or password, you must contact the Bank to change your password immediately.
  5. Apply for SMS Account Alert to track account activity. If you find any suspicious or incorrect activity, you should contact the Bank immediately.

Bangkok Bank will never send an SMS, or emails requesting you to download or install any software or application to make a transaction with us or introduce any pop-up asking for your personal information.
