Bangkok Bank Private Bank recently hosted the exclusive “Bangkok Bank Private Bank Family Legacy & Generational Wealth” seminar to show clients how its family wealth solutions service can support their family asset management and estate planning needs. The advice focused on how to enhance their legacy by protecting and transferring wealth to future generations, reflecting the concept “There’s More to Your Legacy”.

The seminar featured two sessions which introduced clients to broader perspectives on what “legacy” can mean. They also explored how essential elements of family wealth creation, such as family values, mutual understanding and intergenerational bonds, provide sound foundations for creating and preserving legacy in the long term.

In the first session, “The Three Pillars: Intergenerational Legacy Planning, Estate Structuring, and Strategic Giving”, Dr. Sathit Pongthanya, Senior Vice President, Head of Family Wealth Solutions, Wealth & Private Bank at Bangkok Bank, and Mr. Watcharachai Swasdichai, Vice President, Wealth & Private Bank at Bangkok Bank, shared expert insights and case studies to show how family wealth and legacy planning structures can be tailored to the unique needs and legal considerations of each family.

Dr. Trynh Phoraksa, Assistant to the Dean (Academic Services) and Lecturer, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Mahidol University, ran the second session, “From Assets to Relationships: The Psychology of Legacy Transfer Across Generations”. This session provided insights into what “legacy” means from a family psychology perspective. It showed how transferring legacy involves much more than assets to include emotions, expectations and generational differences within the family. It also recommended how family members can communicate with each other in a way that fosters mutual understanding, reduces potential conflicts, and strengthens long-term family relationships.
