Bangkok Bank's 2025 journalist education project strengthens their economic and financial knowledge to help them understand the economic policies of major powers

Strengthening Knowledge - Bangkok Bank Senior Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary, Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, gave a special lecture on "The Global Economic Game: Major Powers Monetary Policies and Their Impact on Thailand" to journalists as part of the “project to develop the potential of senior economic journalists” for 2025. The lecture explored the economic policies of major powers, the People's Republic of China and the United States, which have led to trade wars and barriers affecting the global economy. This focus was particularly on the US government's retaliatory tariffs under President Donald Trump, which will take effect from August 1, 2025, for which Thailand is still negotiating a final tariff reduction. The US currently has a high 36% tariff, as well as other policies that will significantly change the direction of the global economy.
The "project to develop the potential of senior economic journalists" is one of the key activities jointly initiated by Bangkok Bank and the Economic Reporters Association. This program has been continuously developed since 2006, now in its 19th year. This year's theme is "Understanding the Financial World, Eliminating Debt, and Moving towards Sustainability". The program aims to enhance economic and financial reporters' knowledge and understanding of both macro and micro finance, which are exposed to risks from both domestic and international factors. This program will enable them to further develop and disseminate accurate, comprehensive, and timely information to the public. The project is an example of the important role that Bangkok Bank plays as a “trusted partner and reliable close friend” who supports Thai society in various aspects, including providing useful financial information through various media channels.
