About Us

Indonesia has long been an important market for Bangkok Bank. We have been doing business there for more than half a century and opened our first branch in Jakarta in 1968, followed by another in Surabaya in 2012 and Medan in 2013.

While previously we were a foreign bank, predominantly for our business and international customers, 2020 marked the beginning of a new era as we brought Permata into our group. We now offer a full range of services supporting all types of customers: retail, SME, wholesale, conventional and Shariah.

In addition to satisfying the financial needs of our domestic and international customers in Indonesia, through PermataBank we will be able to provide a greater range of services for our current and potential international customers. Once we have integrated these services into one operation PermataBank will qualify as a BUKU IV bank, the highest classification level for commercial banks set by the Central Bank of Indonesia based on capital size.
