3. What is a One Time Password (OTP)?

A One Time Password (OTP) is a randomly generated code sent to your registered mobile phone number by SMS which is needed to complete a specific purchase transaction. It can only be used once within a certain period of time. This ensures nobody can use your One Time Password to make subsequent transactions.


4. I do not have access to a Thai mobile phone what can I do?


Current the One Time Password via SMS is only available for Thai mobile phone numbers.

5. What is Verified by Visa?

Verified by Visa is a security standard developed by Visa to provide increased security when using Visa credit or debit cards to make purchases via the Internet. After you register for Verified by Visa, the bank will send a Verified by Visa One Time Password and OTP reference* via SMS to your registered mobile phone for every online payment. You will need the One Time Password and OTP reference number to complete your transaction with merchants authorized by Verified by Visa.

6. What is MasterCard SecureCode?

MasterCard SecureCode is a security standard developed by MasterCard to provide increased security when using MasterCard credit or debit cards to make purchases via the Internet. Any card that you want to use for online purchasing must be separately registered. If you have more than one card and you want to use them all, then you will need multiple registrations. You can register the several cards using the same mobile phone number.

7. If I lose my credit card or Be1st card will Bualuang iPay be terminated automatically?

No. You have to cancel Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode by yourself by clicking on the menu item "Edit Profile" in the Bualuang iPay website

8. If I have more than one Bangkok Bank card to register, can I use the same phone number?

Yes, one mobile phone number can be linked with multiple cards.

9. If I have already registered for One Time Password via SMS on internet banking, is this the same service?

No, this is not the same service, a separate registration for Bualuang iPay is required. Your internet banking registered phone number is held separately and is not linked to this registration. If you choose to use the same number for both services, and in the future you change your mobile phone number, you will need to update the new number separately to each service.


10. Can I receive One Time Password to use for online shopping while I stay or travel abroad?


Yes, but you will need to activate the roaming service with your Thailand phone operator in order to receive the One Time Password.

11. If I change to One Time Password via SMS, can I go back to use the previous service with a normal password?

No, you cannot change back.

1. What is Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer (EV SSL)?


Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer (EV SSL) is one of the hi-tech security tools with intensive verification from Certificate Authority that we use to protect our banking system. When you are in the Bualuang iPay system, EV SSL will encrypt your data with the complexity method, assuring that your information is submitted to the bank will safety.


2. How secure is Bualuang iPay?

Bualuang iPay uses the latest versions of EV SSL, making it statistically improbable for any intruders to break into our system. EV SSL's job is to encrypt data with the highest for the level of encryption. The stronger security level of encryption is expressed in bits of algorithm. The bank uses a 2048-bit algorithm, the standard level of encryption available for use in the world's banking industry.

3. What other security tools does the Bank have?

Besides EV SSL and encryption, we have several other security tools to make Bualuang iPay a safe site. We use several firewalls that act as security guards and also use the latest anti-virus software and intrusion detection software.

If you leave your computer screen idle for more than 15 minutes, you will automatically be signed out of our service. This feature reduces the risk and prevents anyone from stealing your information or conducting transactions from your account while you are away from the computer.

To prevent anyone having access to your account, we have designed the system so that your account will be suspended immediately the third time a wrong password is entered.

We also use VeriSign (as shown by the VeriSign Certificate) which means it is virtually impossible for anyone to duplicate our web site and pretend to be us.

Our One Time Password (OTP) sent via SMS to your mobile phone also help protects your security by randomly generating a One Time Password for each transaction which can be used only once. This means you can be confident that no one can reuse your password to access your credit or debit card information or to make transactions.

4. How do I know if the Bank's security system is working?

If the Bank's security system is working on your computer, your web browser color will change to green and a closed padlock signed will be presented. It means that your data is encrypted with 2048-bit encryption technology. The furthermore about security information, you can click at the closed padlock signed.

5. What can I do to enhance security?

  • Keep your card number and card information to yourself- Do not store your card details in a computer or write them where other people can find them. Make sure no one is watching as you enter these secret codes.
  • Always log off - Log off from Bualuang iPay every time you are away from the computer. Never walk away from your computer until you have completed a banking transaction.
  • Install anti-virus software on your computer and keep updating your virus database
  • Avoid using a shared computer, such as one in an Internet Cafe, because it may not be secure.
