Initiated in 1974 by the Bangkok Bank Foundation, the ‘Bualuang Painting’ competition has flourished for three decades, providing strength in Thai arts and culture through encouraging valuable art by Thai artists.
The renowned Bualuang Painting competition is the most prestigious in the country. Many previous winners have since gone on to become great artists, some honored as National Artists.
Painting Categories
The Bualuang Painting Competition includes three categories:
1. Thai traditional
Paintings with a form, creative processes, techniques and content consistent with traditional Thai arts
2. Thai semi-traditional
Paintings with a form, creative processes, techniques and content which adapts the essence of Thai arts, but which uniquely suit current trends
3. Thai contemporary
A free and modern expression by Thai artists
Entries will be accepted from May 30, 2026 - May 31, 2026 from 09:00 a.m. - 04:00 p.m. at Bangkok Bank’s Head Office on Silom Road (29th floor). For further information, please call (66)

First, second and third prizes will be awarded under each of the three categories
(total of nine prizes):
First prize (each category)
Bualuang gold medal, 200,000 baht cash and the opportunity to attend an ‘Art and Culture Field Trip’ abroad
Second prize (each category)
Bualuang silver medal and 150,000 baht cash
Third prize (each category)
Bualuang bronze medal and 100,000 baht cash
Remarks:
After receiving 188 entries from 148 artists across three categories, the judging Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the '47th Bualuang Painting Competition' for 2026. The Bualuang Foundation offers its congratulations to all artists who entered, especially those who won prizes. The award winning and selected entries will be featured at the Queen's Gallery.
