FAQ

1. What is the International ACH Transaction (IAT)?
The IAT is a special code for electronic funds transfers for international payments. Bangkok Bank’s New York branch, as a financial institution that provides an international funds transfer service, must comply with regulations to monitor and screen international money transfers according to the policies and regulations of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) under NACHA rules.

2. How can the sender know if the remitting bank offers internet banking services in IAT format?
The sender should ask for advice directly from their bank as some banks in the US may not provide the International ACH through their internet banking service. If the remitting bank cannot provide the service, Bangkok Bank offers THB Foreign Remittance Service, in which the sender can request the US local bank to issue a cheque, deposit it in an account at Bangkok Bank’s New York branch, then remit it to Thailand.
