Advice to Bangkok Bank customers receiving payments from US government agencies or private organizations
For income from US government agencies
You can receive funds to a Bangkok Bank account in Thailand via Bangkok Bank’s New York branch (Direct Deposit).
Service conditions
- Withdrawal of funds from the Direct Deposit account must be made in person at a Bangkok Bank branch.
- Authorizing the withdrawal of funds from your direct deposit account by an appointed representative is not allowed.
- Withdrawals cannot be made via ATM or any other electronic service channel.
However, you can open a savings or current account and transfer funds from your Direct Deposit account to this account for ATM withdrawals, an automatic direct debit service, or other services as usual.
If you register with your agency for Direct Deposit and request to transfer funds to your Bangkok Bank account in Thailand via Bangkok Bank, New York branch, you must comply with the service conditions. Please contact your bank branch to change your account to meet the Direct Deposit service conditions, otherwise, the bank may not be able to deposit the funds into your account.
For more information, please call Bualuang Phone at 1333 before registering for the service.
Important Note
For Direct Deposit users residing in Thailand, you can contact the SSA Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) at the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines, for advice on social security benefits through the following channels:
For income from US private organizations
- Request a Direct Deposit sign up form from your agency or private organization in the US.
- Open a savings account at any Bangkok Bank branch in Thailand. If you already have an account with Bangkok Bank, you can use your existing bank account for this service.
- Request your home branch to issue a bank reference letter to certify your bank account details such as account type, account number, date of account opening and current balance.
- Include your name and physical address in Thailand, your account name and account number with Bangkok Bank in Thailand, the name of Bangkok Bank, and the address of the Bangkok Bank branch where you have an account, along with the Routing Number 026008691 of Bangkok Bank’s New York branch or the SWIFT code “BKKBTHBK” in the service application form.
- Submit all forms to your agency or private organization with the following supporting documents:
- Passport or social security card or proof of entitlement to income
- Certificate of deposit account from Bangkok Bank in Thailand
- After the request is approved by the US private organization, and Bangkok Bank’s New York branch receives the IAT transfer order, your payments will be deposited directly into your account in Thailand.
Important Note
Please check with your agency directly, as some private agencies in the US may not provide funds transfers in the IAT format.
