Special Savings FCD is an account that gives you a waiver on withdrawal fees when transferring funds overseas.

All you need to do is to open the account and deposit funds into it by converting funds from your Thai baht account via Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking for up to 3 million baht per transaction or contact a Bangkok Bank branch nationwide which provides a Foreign Currency Deposit service with no maximum limit.

*Withdrawal fees (Commission in lieu of exchange) are waived. The usual fee rate varies between 0.25% - 1.25% of the withdrawal amount. You will only pay for the overseas transfer fee. View details

You can add a Special Savings FCD Account in 14 currencies (not IDR and MYR) using the Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking app by yourself any day from 6.00 a.m.-11.00 p.m. and once you have successfully added your account, you can:

  • From 8.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. on banking days
    • Make funds transfers between your Thai baht account and your FCD account, with up to 3 million baht per transaction 
    • Transfer funds overseas of up to 2 million baht per transaction per day. View details

    • Request an account statement showing your transaction history for up to 12 months

via Bualuang iBanking 
You can add your Special Savings FCD Account in 14 currencies (not IDR and MYR) to Bualuang iBanking at any branch nationwide which provides a Foreign Currency Deposit service on banking days. Once the account has been registered successfully, you can:

  • Check account activity and your account balance 24/7
  • Make funds transfers from your Special Savings FCD account to your Thai baht account for up to 1.2 million baht per day from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on banking days.

Therefore, this account is not available to receive funds transferred from overseas. What special conditions apply to open a Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit Account?
  • You need to open an account with a minimum first deposit of USD1,000 or the equivalent. You also need to maintain a monthly average of USD250. The bank will charge USD10 if your account balance drops under USD250.You can only convert local baht into foreign currency with the bank and deposit into the account.
  • You can deposit up to USD5 million or the equivalent in such country in the case of deposit without evidence for the overseas expenses or the amount in overseas expenses letter.

Yes, you can receive funds in Thai baht by making funds transfers from a Special Savings FCD to your Thai baht account via Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking for up to 3 million baht per transaction or you can contact any branch nationwide which provides a Foreign Currency Deposit service with no maximum limit on transfers.
Can I transfer funds overseas from a Special Savings FCD account?
Yes, you can transfer funds overseas via Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking or contact any branch nationwide which provides a Foreign Currency Deposit service.
Special! Your withdrawal fees will be waived when transferring funds overseas. You will only pay for the overseas transfer fee.
Can I withdraw foreign banknotes from a Special Savings FCD account?
Yes, you can contact any branch nationwide which provides a Foreign Currency Deposit service. A limit and fee will be applied according to the Bank’s announcement.

If my child has started their overseas education, should I open a Special Savings FCD Account in my name or my child’s name?
You can open a Special Savings FCD Account in either your own name or in your child’s name, if aged over 16 years old. When you need to transfer funds for education expenses either you or your child can make the transaction by yourself via Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking or you can contact any branch nationwide which provides a Foreign Currency Deposit service.
Can I open a Special Savings FCD as a fixed deposit?
The Bank provides the Special Savings FCD account as a savings deposit account only.
Can I change my FCD account to a Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit account?
No, you cannot change the type of your current account to a Special Savings FCD Account, however you can open a new Special Savings FCD instead.

The bank provides the Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit  Account as a savings deposit only.
Can I deposit foreign banknotes into Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit  Account?

How long will Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit  Account be available?
The availability of Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit Account  service is the same as FCD service which has no expiry date.
Can I change my FCD account to Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit  Account?
You cannot change the type of your current account to Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit  Account, anyway you can open new Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit  Account instead.
Where can I transfer and withdraw the money?
If you opened your FCD account at Bangkok Bank’s Headquarters or another branch outside Bangkok that provides Foreign Currency Deposit Services. However, if you opened your FCD account at Foreign Department in Bangkok Bank in Bangkok and surrounding provinces, you can deposit and withdraw the money from the branch you opened your account only.
