Question: What government incentives are available for solar panel installation?
Answer: From March 3, 2026 to December 31, 2028, individuals can claim a tax exemption of up to 200,000 baht on the cost of equipment and installation of a solar rooftop system including a battery.
To qualify, there are four key conditions:
Question: Can I claim the full 200,000 baht tax exemption?
Answer: The exemption covers your actual cost for equipment and solar rooftop system installation, up to a maximum of 200,000 baht. To give an example, costs for a 10 kWp solar rooftop system start from 214,400 baht*. You can claim a tax exemption of 200,000 baht. If you are paying a tax rate of 20% you can get a tax rebate of 40,000 baht. If you are paying 30% tax rate you can claim 60,000 baht.
Here’s a simple table that shows what rebate you can get if you claim a tax exemption of 200,000 baht

Question: Do I need to use a Bangkok Bank loan to qualify for the government tax exemption?
Answer: No. The government tax exemption is available in accordance with the conditions prescribed by the Revenue Department. The tax benefit covers only the costs of equipment and solar rooftop system installation fee. The solar system must be an on-grid system connected to the electricity grid through MEA or PEA with a tax exemption of up to 200,000 baht.
Question: How much can I save on electricity by installing solar panels?
Answer: Savings depend on your household’s electricity consumption and the size of the solar system installed. A typical household that installs a 5 kWp rooftop solar system and invests around 200,000 baht can expect to save more than 2,000 baht a month on electricity bills. Over the life of the system, typically around 25–30 years, those savings add up to well over 900,000 baht. That’s more than four times what you put in, even before counting the tax exemption. The longer you have the system, the more you benefit.
In addition, your repayments will partly or fully replace your current electricity bills rather than add to them so in turn this is easing the burden on your monthly expenses.

Question: What qualifications do I need to apply for a solar loan?
Answer: Qualifications for individuals
